Jeffree Star's mystery box is back!!!

Since posting of this blog -- Feb 4th, 2019 -- He has NOT responded to the issues that are discussed throughout this blog. If he has, please email or leave a comment below with proof. Thank you. [He is currently discussing his newest release of his NEW brushes, which I did do a blog on already.. showing other brands using the same brush handles he used for his newest collection, that can be read HERE.]

The last time I purchased a box from him I bought the $80.00/USD one. It was worth over $123.00/USD. You can read that review and see what items I recieved in that box HERE.

Here is a flyer of that box:

This time, well it was a rather different experience from last time. Jeffree only released 2 sizes this time. The smaller box (PREMIUM) $40.00/USD and the medium/larger size box (DELUXE) was $75.00/USD. I will get into details shortly on each later in the blog.

However, I was ready to purchase my $75.00/USD box BUT I was a 2 mins late when it hit the web. (In makeup release time is like 2 hours TOO LATE) Once I was on his official website I could get through to the final steps of purchasing the $75 box he was offering. BUT! The drama of this mystery box was the time it took for the shipping rate to load!

I was rather stressed and upset by this as it was now taking 5 mins... but then came close to 15 mins!! Which at that point I knew it had sold out! I tried using my computer while my phone kept telling me it was loading. I was so upset at the fact that this was taking longer than expected...CONSIDERING Jeffree was so proud to tell his fans that he learned from last time and stepped up shipping etc.

Here is proof of what I saw during my wait:

This is what was shown to EVERYONE on their screens that were waiting to checkout.

He did not have that last time or anytime he has ever released new items. There was never an issue for me when purchasing anything new off his website. It felt like a Ticketmaster wait as if you were buying tickets to a newly released concert tickets and/or broadway show. Annoying.

Then, on my phone I saw this, while waiting for the shipping rates to load so I could do the final step of hitting 'submit payment':

Here are some more examples of other fans who experienced the SAME issues, you can also go to his twitter and his comments on the launch of these boxes and see photos and complaints that are STILL there.

International fans experienced similar issues, not just within The United States.

The following photo below, she was purchasing TWO boxes and still had the same issue as me and the other examples.

Overall this experience left me rather upset and frustrated. Sure, you can say "why is she complaining when she got a box..many didn't!" ...you're not wrong there, but I am not complaining. I am speaking out so this does not happen again to OTHER fans or potential buyers of his so they do not experience the same issue.

I feel if I do not speak up, then it will happen again, and you will end up on someone else's social media feed or blog seeing similar photographs.

I am grateful that I got the $40 box...do not get me wrong. However, I may end up giving the items away. I am just so disappointed on how this was handled by the Jeffree Star team, that I do not think I will do another mystery box from him again.

Here were some tweets Jeffree posted before the boxes went up for sale: these 2 photos are from his twitter account.

and once it sold out and apparently many fans crashed the website he tweeted this:

With all that being said, I will revealing what I received in my box. I just had to let the truth out about my own experience with his releases. They are often messy and not well organized, and its proof with the photos shown in this blog that Jeffree still needs to do better. He has a lot of fans, and all of his new items sell out in minutes so I don't understand why this wasn't handled differently considering he packaged ALL boxes before people actually paid for them.

As shown here, from Jeffree Star's Twitter Account:

Shipping Costs:

Before I begin, I want to show my PROOF of payments so people who may or may not know me, see that I am not making this up. You can see in the photos below of shipping prices of screenshots of my phone, and comparisons to another buyer who bought a bigger box where that person paid LESS! Now, this could be because of distance or location on where she lived compared to where I am. I am in New York City area, where she could be in California. Regardless, shipping is always more for bigger packages... considering I ordered a small box that was half the size of my 13 inch macbook ...is horrible!

As you can see in the photograph, I completed my purchase almost at 1:30pm/EST, a half hour it took me to COMPLETE my purchase from my start at 1:02pm. That should not happen. EVER. Note: The release of the boxes were 10am/pst and 1pm/est.

The shipping costs were really outrageous! They were never that high the last time ordered his Black Friday box. And usually never that price on average day at his online shop. I almost felt he took advantage of his fans. Shame.

Here is an example of another customer buying the $75.00/USD box but their shipping was lower than my smaller box??? :

$10.34, as shown in the photo above - compared to my $12.86 smaller box.

My Photos:

The exclusive item in the PREMIUM boxes, like the pink black friday box, was a PopSocket.

Opened packaging and close up of some of the items:

The lipstick shade shown in this photo is "Ex-Supermodel" it is a lighter nude which I cannot wear with my skintone. I will be giving it away to a family member.

My favorite item of it all was the "King Tut" Highlighter and the lip shade "Clout"

It is a rather beautiful gold shade perfect for my tan medium skin tone. I HIGHLY recommend these highlighters! They are great not only to highlight, but for eyeshadows and sometimes even bronzers, depending on the shades he has. But the size of the pan is as big as a palm hand of an adult. Nice weight to it, not cheap at all. Comes with a mirror which makes it perfect for on the go.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I still love Jeffree and his products because you just cannot beat the quality. Despite the troubles and issues I faced and many others may have had while ordering these boxes. I understand that traffic on websites can be crazy and you can't predict how things will go. However, he bragged about how great of a job he did to prevent such errors and to see how horrible of experience I had was just disappointing! It has left me not wanting to buy his new items when they are released and to just wait.

I know he is coming out with new items this year but it doesn't make me excited to purchase those new items in the future in fears it will happen again. Sadly, he has lost me there. I am curious to see what other people got and if any of my readers had similar issues.

If you did not get a chance at purchasing a box, I am sorry. But you did not miss out. I do not think I will purchase his mystery boxes again. I'd rather buy 1 or 2 items on a random day that I like and call it a day.
