Snubs and why it matters:

  • First Man - for Best Motion Picture - Considering the director Damien Chazelle who also directed the award stealing film, "LA LA LAND" many were found shocked that First Man didn't receive more recognition. Only for best actress with Claire Foy. I did see this film, although, there is a scene where they practicing on the simulator going around in a circle a thousand times, made me so sick I had to leave the theater to throw up. (no joke) I am surprised there weren't more nominations for a good film!

  • The Handmaid's Tale - for Best Drama - I have not seen this show, but from watching the award season of 2018 season one was a winner of many awards. But apparently the hype wasn't enough to keep it around. From reading comments and blogs on social media, lot of people were furious with this snub and that it wasn't nominated for best drama.

  • Robin Wright - for House of Cards - I have not seen this show. Never was a fan of Kevin Spacey even before the sex scandal. But from my understanding is that Robin Wright really changed this show around and tried to make it something new and better due to the blow it got after the sex scandal and firing of lead, Kevin Spacey. However, Netflix recently cancelled this series and made its 6th season, its final season... I suppose it just couldn't get the nomination due to the controversy that surrounded this show. Shame.

  • Viola Davis - for Widows - I did see this movie and what I will say Viola Davis carried this movie on her back! Now I did not love this film at all.. but Davis was really incredible. She showed such power as the leading woman in this film. She really defined the odds as a wife who had just lost her husband. It really showed such strength and tenacity. I am sad that she did not get recognition for this role.

  • A Quiet Place - for Best Drama - I saw this one in the theaters and it really made my skin crawl and I jumped every 5 mins. The opening was fantastic. I thought it was well done for first time director John Krasinski. His wife played in the movie, and in real life Emily Blunt, was fantastic! Overall this film I thought should of have recognized for its creativity and story. YES, there are movies that discuss the apocalypse and the aliens coming... but this movie was just different. I really enjoyed it. It was everything a thriller, drama film is supposed to be!

  • This is Us - for Best Television Series - I used to watch this show until it became to emotional for me to watch. I felt connections with the adoptive guy, because I am adopted. Some of the story lines for him were relatable but some were so dramatized for television it made me angry... which is why I stopped watching. I am shocked that this wasn't nominated because the cast is very good! But from watching some clips and trailers the new story lines seems to be a hit or miss. So I understand why it wasn't nominated.. but it was a favorable heartstring show which is why it is under my snubs. People love emotional, family related television shows and movies.

Those are just some of my picks that were snubbed from this years Globes.

For more movies and television shows/actors that were snubbed click the links below:

Here, Here and Here.

My Picks, as of Dec 7th:

My picks may change because some of the films may have not come out yet to the public. Also, some television shows I may begin watching as a result of it being nominated. My picks are my own choice, not based on any other entertainment websites or other opinions.
