Makeup Mystery Bag: Colourpop

"BEAUTY THAT DOESN'T BREAK THE BANK" - Colourpop Cosmetics

On January 21st, Colourpop released their "Mystery Makeup Bag". I was concerned that I wouldn't have been able to get my hands on a bag because I forgot that it had gone on sale that day. I only remembered because I saw a post later that night it was on sale.

This make up bag was reasonably priced. It was being sold for $25/USD and each bag contained $55/USD worth of assorted Colourpop makeup. Each bag contained about nine items, ranging from single eyeshadows, single highlighters, lipsticks, lip gloss, lip liners, pressed eyeshadow shadows, and it would seem many were fortune to get their NEW color mascaras that recently went on sale, which can now be purchased HERE.

I have yet to try their mascaras, so I cannot say if they are worth the money or not. But there are a variety of colors makes it very tempting to buy and try different colors of mascaras. As you can see in the photos the colors are rather vibrant.. but I don't know if they are worth the pay off...yet.

I was very happy with my items! All the perfect shades for my skin tone! Thankfully, I do not own any of these so I am glad I don't have duplicates. Overall, I am happy with my selection. It was worth the price! Compared to other brands that are now doing mystery bags and boxes now.. this was definitely a steal!

If you were able to get your hands on a mystery bag.. what was in yours?

Final Verdict:

I have bought plenty of different items from Colourpop throughout the years ... and have found their quality and packaging getting MUCH better! If you are looking for makeup well priced, 100%cruelty free... I HIGHLY recommend giving this brand a try! The only thing I do not love from them are the matte lip items. I find them to be rather drying on the lips and they do not look good at all... at least not on me. They are also hard to get off, once on. You have to use baby oil or oil based wipes to get the off. Thankfully, I did not get any matte lip items which I am thrilled about!

However, with that being said, I have not purchased a matte lip item from them in some time... So perhaps the formula has changed a bit? Let me know if you recently purchased one of their mattes.

My Pros: You get a nice selection of makeup from every department. Eyes, Lips, Cheek, and a NEW product! Of course there will always be one or two items that are either too bright or dark for your skin tone BUT they are great to share with friends who wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity to purchase those items. But the ones placed in my bad were perfect shades.

I love to give only NEW makeup, never USED or BARELY USED makeup to my friends. I do NOT recommend giving used or barely used makeup. It is not sanitary or safe for others to use your makeup on around their eyes or mouth.

My Cons: Seems everyone got the SAME items in each bag.. which is common for mystery makeup bags. There are only so many ways to pack a bag, and I am sure they had a lot of bags they had to make. Also, they usually place certain items that are not selling so well, or new items that are soon to be released (Like, the "Back on Black" Volumizing Mascara"). Sure, there are a few items I received that if you look at other customers bags...were similar. I don't mind that..because this time I lucked out and received products I do not currently own.

Overall, I am grateful that I was able to buy this bad and would buy it again if/when they decide to sell them again. I think it is a nice random selection, despite it being similar to everyone else's.
